I don’t use a pattern or even draw on the wood. I just pick up a piece of wood and start cutting. Each piece is unique, not exactly the same as any other. Many of them use the natural shape of the wood, I like to show the beauty that is naturally in the wood as well as what I might shape it into. Most of the time my business consists of only myself and my tools. Occasionally I get a friend or relative to do some work for me.
My products can be purchased directly from me on Saturday mornings at the Farmers’ Market, either to people who come to my house or by mail. It is much easier for me to sell through the markets, craft fairs and some galleries and shops.
I took part in the holiday market of the Dartmouth Handcrafters’ Guild last fall, and the Marconi Campus fair and Christmas at Victoria Park Craft Show, and my product did really well. I have some things in the Inverness County Centre for the Arts, Sunset Gallery (in Cheticamp), The Craft Gallery (in Sackville, NB), and sometimes in a few other places. I also have some in the Cape Breton Centre for Crafts and Design gallery, though they are changing their rules and raising their fees and I’m not sure at this point what I am going to decide. Directions to my place are too complicated and long to put here. If people want to come, they can e-mail or call. When I am not at my craft I spend time in my garden, when it yields a good crop, I end up selling it at the farmers’ market.

The Antigonish Farmers' Market was established in 1995 as a local venue for farmers and other producers to market their wares directly to the public. With the support of the people of Antigonish and the surrounding area, the Market has continued to grow and thrive.
